Provided is the use of a novel treatment of L-carnitine, acyl L-carnitine and pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof for the treatment of immune and metabolic changes in asymptomatic HIV serum positive patients of AIDS and AIDS related syndrome patients.;In the case of oral administration of the dosage of L-carnitine according to the novel use of the present invention, it is about 6-8 g per day or equivalent amount of acyl L-carnitine or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. The dosage is three to four times the syntactic dosage for known therapeutic uses of L-carnitine.
