Recycling of adhesive-contg. ethylene, propylene or styrene polymer waste material is by comminution together with adhesive-free scrap of the same or similar polymer material so that the 2 types of material are mixed together. In particular, the materials to be comminuted are in the form of a roll of adhesive-contg. material on a core of adhesive-free material, such rolls being claimed per se, esp. where the core is of material already recovered in the claimed recycling process. Pref. the materials to be recovered are polyethylene and polypropylene and can be LDPE opt. contg. 0.5-10 (pref. 1-5) wt.% HDPE, polypropylene and/or EVA copolymer. At least 1, esp. 3-10, pts. wt. adhesive-free material is used per pt. wt. adhesive-contg. material, the amt. of adhesive in the recycling material being 0.5-5 (esp. 1-3) wt.%. USE/ADVANTAGE - The amt. of adhesive-free material is such as to prevent stoppage of the comminution appts. and such as to remove any adhesive deposited on the appts. The comminuted material (esp. granulate) can be extruded or injection moulded to give films (e.g. for agricultural use), pipes, bags, mouldings or cable-coverings, such articles being wholly of the recycled material or being composites with virgin polymer, such virgin polymer opt. being present as surface material on a core of recycled material. The recovered adhesive is used as a plasticiser for thermoplastics, esp. for polyolefins contg. at least same HDPE (claimed).
