The spacecraft assemblies (1, 2) are coupled by several cables (311, 312), between which are fitted several transverse links (32) such that the length of the coupled cables is much greater than the dimensions transverse to the ideal, longitudinal axis of the cable system. Pref. the transverse links contribute to flexible coupling as tensile forces are transmitted via the links. The links are parallel and may be set at any angle, pref. orthogonally, to the longitudinal cables. Typically at least three longitudinal cables are used, with a triangular, cross-sectional configuration, coupled at the corners of a pref. isosceles triangle. USE/ADVANTAGE - For repairs in space, with reduced risk of cable breakage.
