A combined insulating sleeve (5) and terminal ferrule (4) for the core (not shown) of an electric cable carries an integrally moulded identity tab (7) which provides a white or colour-coded flat surface (8) for an appropriate legend. The sleeve (5) contains a moulded-in metal sheath with a conical entry guide (6) which forms the ferrule (4) for eg. a crimped connection to the end of the core. The tab (7) is inscribed by any suitable means prior to this operation and thereafter the core is permanently identifiable for securing to a terminal board etc. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables permanent identification of cores during winding procedures at same time as core ends are made-off for terminal block insertion. Means of identification cannot be lost during any subsequent disconnection eg. servicing or replacement operations.
