Cyclic organo-metal cpds. of formula (I) or (II) are used as components in coordination catalysts for coordination polymerisation and metathesis of alkenes and alkynes. In the formulae, M = Al, Ga or In; X = CH2, O, S or NR2; Y = -(CH2)m, o-(CH2)p-C6H4-(CH2)q, o-(CH2)p-C6H6-(CH2)q, o-(CH2)p-C6H8-(CH2)q, o-(CH2)p-C6H10-(CH2)q, o-(CH2)p-C5H4-(CH2)q, o-(CH2)p-C5H6-(CH2)q or o-(CH2)p-C5H8-(CH2)q; Z = NR2R4, OR5 or SR5; R1 = H, OH, halogen, or 1-6C alkyl or alkoxy; R2, R3, R4, R5 = H or 1-6C alkyl; n = 2-6; m = 1-6; p, q = 0-2; a = 2-4; b, c = 0-1; and b+c = 1. Coordination catalyst systems based on transition metal cpds. of the IVth-VIIIth Side Gps., and organo-metal cpds. of the IIIrd Main Gp., contain (I) and/or (II). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst systems are less sensitive, e.g. to air and moisture, and thus more easily handled. The amt. of (I) or (II), and of the catalyst can be reduced.
