Liq. filtration for high filtrate throughput and low energy cost - by suction through micro-filtration filler for impurity removal esp. from waste water e.g. trade or industrial waste water from car wash, for low construction costs with plastic filter
The filtration comprises using a filter (3a) which blocks the outlet (5) of a liq. accommodation space (2). The filter is a micro filtration filter (3a) with a predetermined uniform pore size. Suction is applied to the outlet (5) to retain impurities on the filter (3a). The filter is cleaned by pressure application; and during suction and cleaning pressure application, the filter is supported by flat support(s) extending across the surface. Also new is appts. for filtration, the filter pref. comprising a plastics e.g. a polyester or polycarbonate. The filter pref. has the following characteristic(s): (i) a filtration area of at least 300 (at least 500) sq. cm.; (ii) a total area of at least 1 (more than 2.5, e.g. 3-5) sq. m. in the accommodation space (2); (iii) a pore size of less than 100 (max. 20, e.g. 0.45-15) microns; (iv) a vertical attitude; (v) a thickness of less than 200 (max. 50, esp. ca. 10) microns; and (vi) pores formed by irradiation pref. with corpuscular radiation, esp. by a nuclear particle track technique. Filter cleaning is effected by periodic backflushing with fluid, esp. the filtered lid., under pressure. USE/ADVANTAGE - The filtration is useful for filtering waste water, esp. trade or industrial waste water, e.g. from car washes. It has high filtrate throughput with low energy and construction costs.
