Method of producing cement clinker in a semi-drying type plant in which raw material, esp. marl and chalk, is made into a sludge by adding water. This is then filtered to remove the water and the filter residue fed to a device (5) for drying and producing fine particles. Hot off-gas from the furnace system (15) is simultaneously fed into the device (5). The dried and finely dispersed material is fed to a separator (11) where a coarse fraction is withdrawn and fed back (12) to the device (5). The fine fraction is passed on to a classifier and then into the furnace system (15). ADVANTAGE - A more homogeneous material is fed into the furnace system with the correct amount of CaO. Also some raw material can be fed directly into the device (5), thereby cutting down on drying energy costs.
