An apparatus for carrying out inspection and renovation works or the like on undersides of bridges is characterised by at least one cableway system arranged in the region of the bridge underside and at least one movable working platform (1) connected to the cableway system. The cableway system has at least two support cables (6, 7, 8) which are anchored on the bridge abutments (3, 4) and supported by cable shoes (11) which are fastened to the supporting framework (2) of the bridge.
