System of propping of tunnel wall - includes holding wall open by using tightly fitting steel support struts between roof and ground after advance of cutting machine and behind conveyor

The wall of a tunnel (5) leading into a main tunnel (2) is held open, after the advance of the cutting machine and immediately behind the conveyor, by tightly fitting support struts (17,18) between the roof and the ground. The support struts (17,18) are located in two rows (R1,R2) at a distance from each other so that a filling layer (19) of hard material, between the rows, is stabilised. These struts are formed from two steel tubes closely guided in each other . The supporting struts (17) at the side of the tunnel are used for supporting the tunnel entrance into the main tunnel (2). USE - Provision of rapid roof supports in mines.
