Recovery of fluorides from treatment residues from glass frosting comprises: (a) neutralising residues with lime; and (b) incorporating resulting sludge into concrete as partial replacement for cement during mfr. of non reinforced prods., e.g. breeze blocks, paving stones and kerbstones. USE/ADVANTAGE - Recovery of fluoride containing effluent without requirement for disposal. Economic process avoiding disposal costs and producing concrete prod. with improved mechanical resistance. Reduction in cement usage. Final product does not release fluorides under action of atmosphere, running water or ageing.
