PURPOSE: To obtain a readily handleable and preservable Frankia material excellent in preservation stability without putrefying even in the presence of various germs by holding a microorganism which belongs to the genus Frankia and capable of forming root nodules in a plant which belongs to the benus Alnus in a carrier possessing many surfaces. ;CONSTITUTION: A microorganism which belongs to the genus Frankia and capable of forming root nodules in a plant which belongs to the genus Alnus of the family Betulaceae [e.g. Frankia.sp. AvcI1 (ATCC33255)] is cultured in a culture medium and the culture solution is then centrifuged to collect microbial cells. The resultant cultured microbial cells are washed with water twice and further suspended in water. The obtained suspension can subsequently be sprayed on a carrier possessing many surfaces such as vermiculite, perlite, zeolite, porous ceramics, fine granular pumice, charcoal, peat-moss, rock wool, KANUMA-TSUCHI (yellow pumice, produced in KANUMA in TOCHIGI Prefecture and used as horticultural soil) or AKADAMA- TSUCHI (horticultural red soil), uniformly mixed and thereby can efficiently and readily be inoculated into a plant body. As a result, the objective readily handleable and preservable Frankia material, excellent in stability for a long period and preservation stability even under severe conditions without putrefying in the presence of various germs is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
