PURPOSE: To reversibly increase or decrease fluorescence intensity of high efficiency and high contrast and to realize such increase or decrease with simple constitution by driving the fluorescent device and the fluorescent recording medium with substantially no damages on an org. dyestuff thin film. ;CONSTITUTION: This fluorescent device has the org. dyestuff thin film 12 formed on an electrode substrate 11, electrodes 13 arranged above the org. dyestuff thin film 12 and a light source 30 for exciting the org. dyestuff thin film 12. At least one of the electrode among the electrodes has transmittability to exciting light 31 to be cast from the light source 30 to the org. dyestuff thin film 12. At least one of the electrodes have transmittability to the fluorescence 41 emitted from the org. dyestuff thin film 12 and the fluorescent intensity is changed by increasing or decreasing the efficiency of the fluorescence 41 by the voltage impressed between the electrodes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
