PURPOSE: To produce high strength wear resistant ceramics with grain boundaries of ceramic bonded with an Nb-Al alloy. ;CONSTITUTION: This high strength wear resistant ceramic is made of a sintered compact obtd. by bonding grains of ceramic contg. at least one of carbides, nitrides, borides or oxides with an Nb-Al alloy not contg. Cu, Co, Ni or Fe. This ceramic can be produced by pressureless sintering, can be formed into a complex shape and is applicable to a cutting tool, parts for a continuous hot dip metal plating apparatus, engine parts, blade parts for a gas turbine, burner parts, shroud parts, the 1st wall parts of the nuclear fusion reactor of a nuclear power plant, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
