The invention relates to a method and device for substantially removing scratches on surfaces 18 of glass, natural stone or plastic. According to the invention, the cleaned and marked scratch 19 is surrounded by a ring- shaped sponge 12, and a hand tool 3 having an eccentrically rotating basic head 5 is used to remove the scratch 19, by means of polishing employing spiral movements 21 across the glass, natural-stone or plastic surface 18, from said surface, a high level of quality being achieved in the process.
