Particular movement and characteristic of automation components for cutting and welding together two metal strips, with an inclined cut, to obtain superimposed joints with no machining allowance
The strips to be joined are superimposed and lined up, positioned and locked transversely by two pivoting clamps placed laterally, respectively on the right and left side of the machine. Between said clamps travels a carriage on which is mounted, respectively, an inclined shears, two separating plates for the chips, the power transformer and the secondary winding circuit, to which are attached the electrodes such that the welding site is higher than and subsequent to the orthogonal line of the cut. The carriage advances, inserts the plates between the blades of the shears which, immediately after the (inclined) cut, separate the two edges to be welded, which by virtue of the advancement of the carriage are lifted up to the plane of the electrodes, by virtue of the lifting of the two strips, which are firmly joined to the clamps, the centre of rotation of the pivots being higher than the welding plane, so that the two edges come close together until the two surfaces cut obliquely (in the thickness dimension) will mate and rise up between themselves, creating a welding contact surface without increasing the thickness.
