The present invention relates to an acetabular (cotyloid) cup, of generally hemispherical shape, having, cut out from its wall, tongues which can spread out radially (4) and which are connected to the top (2) of the cup, substantially along one parallel (P) of the latter, and which carry, on their outer surface, bumps (6) for anchoring the cup in the cotyloid wall. According to the invention, these bumps consist of anchoring teeth (6), the inner side (9) of which, turned towards the top (2) of the cup, is formed at a re-entrant angle on the surface of the tongue (4) which carries them. Preferably, the angle defining the re-entrant angle of each anchoring tooth (6) is, in the mid-plane of a section of the latter, obtained by tangency of the inner side (9) of the tooth with an imaginary circle whose centre is situated substantially on the parallel along which the tongue (4) is connected to the top (2) of the cup.
