COMBINED DEFIBRILLATOR-PACER SYSTEM UTILIZING PACER TIP LEAD SWITCH

A switch for placement in the lead lineconnecting a pacing pulse generator to an implantedpacing tip electrode in a combined implantable pacing-defibrillation system. The switch is triggered by switchcontrol circuitry to open during defibrillation and toclose during pacing. When the switch is open, theimplantable unit is electrically isolated from the highvoltage defibrillation pulse delivered to the heart.When the switch is closed, a low resistance conductionpath is provided in the pacing lead to the pacing tipelectrode.
