The method makes it possible in a simple manner to match the energy transfer to the transfer conditions at any given time in devices for contactless transfer of data and energy. For this purpose, the stationary portion (ST) continuously writes a test data word into the memory of the moving portion (BT), reads it out again and compares it with that just written. Starting from a maximum energy supply, the energy supply is now reduced stepwise each time after writing and reading the test data word. If the written test data word and the read test data word no longer agree during the method, the last value set for the energy supply is increased by a safety value and a changeover into the normal operating mode is then made.
