Strap/tarpaulin tensioner, a hook being provided for reaching behind positionally fixed elements, in particular for side tarpaulins, provided with clamping straps, on lorry bodies, the individual straps being provided with turn buckles which have a lower part and a manoeuvrable clip which is arranged pivotably thereon and can be latched thereto. The intention is to configure strap/tarpaulin tensioners in such a manner that they can be operated very simply, i.e. one-handed, are simple and hence economical to manufacture and such that they do not need additional, short strap end pieces with hooks. This is achieved in that the lower part (4) of the turn buckle (1) is provided directly with the hook (10) and the turn buckle (1) is assigned directly to the free end of a strap (2). IMAGE
