Launching device for free-fall lifeboats in thwartship direction with launching ways alternatively extendable outboard and integrated boat operating means for retrieving the lifeboat
During a launching manoeuvre opposed to the list, the requisite minimum launching distance will not be reached. Rolling gravity davits or cranes occupy a large retaining height as a function of their extended position. Known boat operating means have a movable beam which is produced from a complex system of individual beams connected to one another. The novel launching device is to be suitable for launching the free-fall lifeboat in thwartship direction within the largest possible range of the angle of heel to each side. The novel boat operating means is to have a minimised retaining height and is to be equipped with a movable individual beam. Fig. 34: a cross beam (3) connects two U-beams (2) arranged in parallel on the launching ways (1), mounted on rollers (4) and equipped with conically tapered plastic supporting rollers (Y). The U-beams, run by the sloping force together with the free-fall lifeboat mounted on them into their extended position limited by stoppers (5), extend the launching ways outboard. Lateral guide rollers (Z), conically tapered plastic supporting rollers (Y) and the U-section (X) provided with square-section rods prevent the lifeboat from jumping out or jamming. Fig. 35: a rigid support structure (2) with a roller-mounted jib (3) is arranged above the launching ways (5, 9). The jib (3) is retracted/extended in a continuously variable manner by means of an electric motor (7). On the jib equipped with crab (4) and hot hook (11) ... Original abstract incomplete. IMAGE
