The drive selector is for a vehicle including a gearbox (30) having high and low ratio ranges, preselected (50) by alternative ratio input trains (511,512;521,522). One driving wheel (521) is removed, and optionally, selector pinion (513) travel is restricted. The IC engine (10), thus effectively disconnected in one selected position only drives the primary shaft (31) in the other. With the engine disconnected, the electric traction motor (20) can be connected to the primary shaft through the power take-off (33). With either prime mover, the final drive (40,41) is through the normal gears (321) and a secondary shaft (32). A hydraulic pump (80) is connected to a continuously available power take-off. Another take-off (60) runs a traction battery charger when the electric drive is out of use. A variant uses a single range gearbox disengageable from the engine.
