Apparatus for continuously measuring the artificially produced radioactive contamination in the atmosphere which is capable of penetrating into the respiratory tract. It comprises, in particular, a separator device formed by two nozzles (18, 19) which are aligned and have unequal diameters, the dimensions of which are chosen so that particles of diameter greater than 10 mu m are projected by inertia into a capture nozzle (19), and so that the finer particles constituting the total thoracic fraction and comprising, in particular, the artificially produced radioactive particles, pass around by being entrained by the gas flow before depositing on a moving filtering surface (5) with surface collection placed in front of the detector (6). The invention applies particularly to selective continuous measurement of radioactive particles in suspension in air, which reach the thoracic passages and alveoli in humans. IMAGE
