PURPOSE: To obtain a DNA molecule for discriminating flocculating properties of a yeast, containing a part or all of a specific base sequence or a complementary chain thereto and capable of rapidly discriminating whether the DNA molecule has beer yeast type flocculating properties or is suspending according to a simple method. ;CONSTITUTION: This new DNA for discriminating flocculating properties of a yeast contains a part or all of a base sequence represented by the formula or its complementary chain and is capable of rapidly measuring whether the yeast has laboratory yeast type flocculating properties or beer yeast type flocculating properties or is suspending without any flocculating properties according to a simple method. The DNA is obtained as an Lg-FL01 gene represented by the formula by forming a spare from the beer yeast having the flocculating properties according to a conventional method, preparing a meiotic strain having a reduced number of chromosomes, extracting the whole DNA thereof, carrying out the polymerase chain reaction(PCR) using two kinds of primers synthesized based on the base sequence of an FL01 gene participating in the flocculating properties of the laboratory yeast and cloning the DNA.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
