PURPOSE: To remove main hindering causes against the miniaturization of a device and the easiness of operation by a method wherein an ink jet recording head is equipped with recordability improving liquid for agglutinating the coloring material in ink and a means for applying the recordability improving liquid on a recording medium so as to store the recordability improving liquid in some part of an ink tank part. ;CONSTITUTION: A color ink tank 9 has the housing part of color ink 911 and the housing part of a recordability improving liquid 912 consisting respectively of two chambers partially communicated with each other through an imperfect partition wall 9013 or of front chambers 911a and 912a seen from feed ports 913 and 914, in which absorbers 917 and 918 are arranged, and back chambers 911b and 912b, in which crude ink 911 and the recordability improving liquid 920. At the change of the tank due to the running-out of coloring material-containing ink, the recordability improving liquid can be simultaneously changed, resulting in allowing to ensure necessary and enough amount of the ink and liquid at all times and to prevent an image from deteriorating. Further, since the detecting means for detecting the residual amount of the ink and liquid becomes unnecessary, the miniaturization of a device is contrived. Rurthermore, since the consciousness of the residual, amount can spare, the improvement of operability is contrived.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
