摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain a synthetic quartz powder of high purity with bubble formation suppressed on melt formation by drying the gel using a specifically treated drier in the production of synthetic quartz by the sol-gel process. ;CONSTITUTION: When silica gel obtained by the sol-gel process is dried and fired to produce synthetic quartz glass powder, the silica gel is dried in a drier whose inside is previously washed with a silica gel dispersion. Although there is no specific limitation, an aqueous dispersion of silica gel is preferably used in order to avoid the gel from being contaminated with unneeded components. As a silica gel, the one prepared by the sol-gel process is preferably cited, since impurities can be suppressed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
