PURPOSE: To make urban waste refuse incineration ash harmless so as not to generate environmental pollution and to inexpensively obtain a ceramic raw material by melting urban waste refuse incineration ash under heating and grinding slag obtained by cooling the molten ash. ;CONSTITUTION: Urban waste refuse incineration ash is melted under heating and the molten ash is cooled to form slag which is, in turn, ground to obtain a material capable of being utilized as glaze for pottery or a ceramic raw material. For example, slag obtained by cooling molten urban waste refuse incineration ash heated to 1450°C is finely ground and 5-10% of bentonite is added to the ground slag to adjust the moisture thereof to 6% and this slag is subjected to press molding so as to have a predetermined size and the molded one is dried and subsequently fired at 1000°C to obtain a cream color ceramic plate reduced in contraction and moisture absorption.
