PURPOSE: To elongate the life of a gland packingly by combining the inner periphery portions of at least two split pieces with each other to form a rod sliding hole, and also the residual split pieces are fitted between the mutual split pieces for forming the rod sliding hole, and arranging the respective split pieces for forming the rod sliding hole in a wedge shape. ;CONSTITUTION: A packing case 10 where a gas circulating hole 110 penetrates through the peripheral wall 11 thereof and the outer peripheral portions 211 of plural split pieces 21 fitted in the packing case 10 are fastened by garter springs 30 for forming a gland packing 20. In this arrangement, the inner peripheral portions 212 of at least two split pieces 21a are combined together to form a rod sliding hole 40, and also the remaining split pieces 21b are fitted between the mutual split pieces 21a for forming the rod sliding hole 40. The respective split pieces 21 for forming the rod sliding hole 40 are formed in a wedge shape so that the pieces can always form a part of the rod sliding hole 40 as the inner peripheral portions 212a of the split pieces 21 are worn away by the rod 41.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
