PURPOSE: To obtain a drug-effect substance from balsam pear or balsam pear seed. ;CONSTITUTION: Balsam pear, balsam pear seed or balsam pear sprout produced by germinating balsam pear seed is used as a raw material for the objective substance. The raw material is crushed, heated in distilled water to decoct the active component and further heated to obtain a concentrated drug-effect substance in liquid or pasty state. The product may be further heated and dried to a powdery or granular drug-effect substance. A squash-type protease inhibitor existing in the drug-effect substance directly dissolves in blood to inhibit the blood coagulation and exhibit the treating and preventing effect on thrombotic diseases such as cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction.
