PURPOSE:To operate a superconducting magnetic levitation train efficiently with an extra-high speed and safely by a method wherein the superconducting magnet of a specific car has a predetermined stability margin and the stability margin is larger than the stability margins of the other cars. CONSTITUTION:The stability margins of the superconducting magnets 2 of a leading car 11 and a rear car 31 can be larger than the stability margins of the superconducting magnets 2 of intermediate cars 21. Further, it is especially efficient if the stability margin of the superconducting magnet 2 on the car 1 is, for instance, not less than 200mJ/cc in a rated operation. Moreover, it is efficient to control properly so as to limit a steady disturbing energy not larger than 100mJ/cc.
