PURPOSE:To reduce and display the information of a simple animation mode on a definition screen and to obtain a display picture having no flicker by alternately writing the video signals of a mode in respective all the areas of a pair of storing planes of a storing means when the video signal of the definition mode is transferred and alternately reading the video signals. CONSTITUTION:The highly efficiently coded video signal transferred to the input terminal T1 of a TV telephone system from a transmission side is decoded (1a), the signal is processed in a signal processing circuit 1b and supplied to a first switching circuit 2. A control signal is supplied through control lines 11-16 to a circuit constituted of the storing means 23 constituted of the circuits 1a, 1b, the storing planes 3, 4 constituted in other way, a second switching circuit 5 and a D/A converting circuit 6 from a microcomputer 10 to execute various types of controls. When the video signal of the definition mode is transferred, the signals of the mode are alternately written in the respective all the definition picture storing areas 3a, 4a of the pair of planes 3, 4, the stored video signals are alternately read to reduce and display the simple video to a definition picture.
