PURPOSE: To obtain a monoclonal antibody having ability to specifically recog nize human procathepsin B protein, thus useful for e.g. diagnosing various cancer ous diseases and Alzheimer-type dementia. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective monoclonal antibody, SBMI-1 (FERM P-13683) or SBM2-2 (FERM P-13682), has ability to specifically recognize human procathepsin B protein (esp., of the amino acid sequence of the pro-portion of this protein, a peptide having the sequence of 16th to 29th amino acids of formula I, a second peptide having the sequence of 80th to 92nd amino acids of formula II, and a third peptide having the sequence of 295th to 309th amino acids of formula III). It is preferable that human procathepsin B or human cathepsin B be detected or quantified by immunoassay using this monoclonal antibody or an antigenbinding fragment thereof.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
