ERROR DIFFUSION METHOD,ERROR DIFFUSION SYSTEM AND ERROR GENERATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and system for highly addressable error diffusion. SOLUTION: A gray level value of 1st resolution representing a pixel is inputted to a latch 205 first. The gray level value is converted to 2nd resolution higher than the 1st resolution by a subpixel circuit 209 and adding circuits 210 and 211. A threshold value 212 compares the converted gray level value with a threshold value. An actual output generating circuit 200 and adding circuits 201 and 202 generate possible error values in parallel to the converting process and threshold value process. A multiplexer 203 selects one of the possible error values according to the number of subpixels exceeding the threshold value. A distributing circuit 204 diffuses the selected error value to gray level values representing adjacent pixels. Many operations are performed in parallel, so gray signals of different levels can be decreased within the range of time restrictions and processing capability specification of an image rendering system.
