The device according to the invention consists of a structure made from synthetic material, generally in the shape of a cross, in one of the arms of which there is a carriage moving on guides and permanently subjected to the thrust of elastic means. According to the invention, at the interface between said carriage and the corresponding arm of the structure there is a series of holes, at an inclination of 45 degrees relative to the plane defined by the structure itself, said holes serving as a guide for insertion of a needle for herniated disc operations. Furthermore, said holes are situated at distances precisely predetermined relative to the longitudinal axis of the structure, and a graduated scale indicates the respective distances of the holes from said axis. In this way, the surgeon need only position the device on the patient's back and determine, from the physical constitution of the patient, the exact point of penetration of the needle in the skin. Thanks to the device of the invention, the needle will then be inserted with the proper inclination and at the specified point of penetration. IMAGE
