SUBSTANCE: apparatus for cathode protection of metal-containing underground objects from corrosion is provided by an automatic input switch, a unit for shaping control pulses, a mode switch-over, an inverter, a reference voltage source, a unit for monitoring and protection, a subsidiary electrode, placed near the underground object, being protected, and connected with a unit for separating a potential to be monitored, that unit is connected with the unit for shaping control pulses. The apparatus also has a reference electrode, a comparator, connected with the protection mode switch-over. The unit for monitoring and protection is connected with the reference power source and with the automatic input switch and/or with inputs of a phase-shifting unit. The reference electrode and the subsidiary electrode are arranged between the underground construction, being protected, and an anode ground. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of operation of the apparatus, lowered labor consumption at making and mounting such apparatus, enlarged service possibilities. 180 cl, 14 dwg
