FIELD: polymer processing. SUBSTANCE: plates are manufactured via extrusion of styrene polymer formulation containing 1-10 wt % gaseous foaming agent based on oxygen-containing compound and also, if necessary, special additives, said foaming agent being at least one ether selected from the group including dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ether, and methyl vinyl ether. Ether may be used in mixture with carbon dioxide and saturated hydrocarbon with 3-5 carbon atoms and/or alcohol boiling within the temperature range 56-100 C. EFFECT: improved quality of produce.
