Process for the production of an environmentally friendly fuel from cut green growth on highways, federal highways or other busy roads

Largely contaminated grass mowings and foliage cut from motorways are collected in piles and periodically conveyed to a treatment point. Here the material is chopped if necessary and mixed before treating with (a) highly alkaline residues, esp. from sugar beet processing. (b) fullers earth, (c) specially treated coal which is mixed with the other ingredients and pelletised to produce fuel suitable for fluidised bed furnaces with very low polluting action. Heavy metals are filtered from combustion fumes, and the ash may be vitrified for structural material. USE - Provides low-pollution disposal of material heavily contaminated by passing traffic.
