A process is used for organising the storage of geometric space information in computer memory that is employed in two-dimensional and three-dimensional computer aided design processes. The objects are described by a number of nodes that are interconnected in a tree data structure with both inner and output nodes being defined by binary states that indicate whether or not the node contains space data. The data can be stored in the form of two lists. The validity of the structure is established on the basis of the number of 1 and 0 states present.
