Roadbed for railway using noise reducing elements and no ballast

The roadbed has a concrete support slab (42) with dowels (14) which carry bolts (48), threaded for part of their length, which are used for temporary height adjustment of the concrete sleepers (1) laid on the slab. Once the sleepers are correctly adjusted, the space between them and the slab is filled with an expanding mortar, thus providing a rigid base for the rails. The slab has an arched lower surface which lies on the ground which has been similarly shaped. Noise-deadening components can be fastened to the superstructure beside the rails.
