Automated storage room comprising a plurality of superimposed levels (1a, 1b, 1c), subdivided into parallel passages (2a, 2b, 2c) on iether side of which are disposed rows of racks or cells (3), forming storage areas for products which are handled by means of automous carriages (4), brought to a predefined level by at least one lifting assembly (5). Each storage level (1a, 1b, 1c) includes a set of rails forming a plurality of lattices (6) oriented according to the longitudinal axis X of the storage area within each passage (2a, 2b, 2c) and a lattice (7) oriented according to the transversal axis Y at right angles to the passage ends. The autonomous carriages (4) are fitted with means (bidirectional forks) which support the product to be handled.
