The filter has a dirty liq.-receiving upper chamber in the form of a cover with a filtering medium belt sealed on its bottom and resting on the upper perforated surface of a lower chamber equipped with a filtered liq. pipe, the sealed upper and lower chambers being separable after a filtering operation to advance a fresh belt portion into the filter. The escape of liq. from the sealed chambers is prevented by vertically movable barriers installed in the joint surfaces to form a sealed space after closing the chambers. Also claimed is a method of constructing and using the above filter.
