A packer element (13,14) has a soft membrane (131,141), which surrounds the central packer body (130,140) and which deforms during packer inflation to press against the well wall, and an anti-extrusion system (136,137,146,147), which confines membrane deformation to the radial direction wrt. the well axis and which is also radially expandable during inflation. Also claimed is a well packer comprising a series of packer elements as described above.
