PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to continuously form images without producing harmful substance with small dissipation power. ;SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a matrix electrode cylinder 12 having a conductive polymer thin film 11 formed to vary the state of at least two states of electrochemically oxidized state, neutral state and reduced state to make it possible to input or discharge ionic dye molecules. A voltage is applied between a potential driving electrode 13 for inputting the molecules and the opposed electrode 14 for input the molecules in dye electrolyte solution 15 in a tank 16 in the specified area of the cylinder 12 to the film 11. A voltage is applied between the electrode 14 and the opposed electrode 18 to transfer the ionic dye molecules to the specified area of the surface of a transfer sheet 19 to form an image.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
