PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an estimation instrument capable of accurately and readily estimating, in a lower cost the performance of flaw detection of magnetic particles for a magnetic particle flaw detection method. ;SOLUTION: A straight groove 2 having a straight inclination of which depth from the surface is in a range of 2-5mm is formed from an edge of one short side 12 to the opposed other short side 13 on one face 11 of a rectangular solid 1 made of a ferromagnetic material. Or, a plurality of straight grooves 3, 31, 32 each having a constant depth in a range 1-5mm are formed thereon from an edge of one long side 14 to the opposed other long side 15 with intervals such that angles of the straight grooves with respect to one of the long side 14 are gradually smaller. A sheet body 4 made of a non-magnetic material having a thickness in a range of 0.1-0.5mm is stuck on the face on which the groove(s) is formed and the rectangular solid 1 is magnetized so that the performance of flaw detection of magnetic particles for a magnetic particle flaw detection method is estimated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
