ARCHIVING METHOD IN DISTRIBUTED ARCHIVING RECALL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent long waiting in writing data into a file system by means of application on a client machine when an archiving request is given from a client when all magnetic tape devices connected to a server machine are in the middle of use in a distributed archiving recall system. SOLUTION: When the archiving request is given from the client while the magnetic tape devices are used, the archived file is temporarily outputted to a magnetic disk device by means of a temporary file management means 103 and a magnetic tape device use situation is set in a magnetic tape device management table 102. Then, the control is transferred to an archiving resumption control means 104 and a magnetic tape device management means 101 and a load monitor means 106 check the use situation of the magnetic tape device and a system load. When the magnetic tape device can be used and the system load becomes low, the temporary file management means 103 moves the file again to the magnetic device.
