PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain error correction capability for an error caused at decoding of data by comparing data passing through an equalization section with preceding data. SOLUTION: User data received at present and data resulting delaying data outputted from a pre-coder 10 twice are exclusively ORed and coded and outputted. The output data are fed to a data conversion section 20, in which the data are converted and the converted data are given to a channel 30 and subject to modeling and the result is fed to an equalization section 40. The equalization output is given to a variable level comparator section 80 and a reference comparison section 60. The optimized and equalized data are given to a reference comparison section 60, from which more accurate data are detected based on a reference value of a prescribed level. On the other hand, delay elements 70, 71 delay the data detected by the comparison section 60 by a prescribed time and the delay signal and the data optimized and equalized data are fed to a variable level comparison section 80, in which the data are compared and detected.
