PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a spinning frame and a yarn twister equipped with a high performance and inexpensive yarn breakage detector and further a method for detecting the yarn breakage. ;SOLUTION: This spinning frame is equipped with a yarn breakage detector S and obtained by installing the yarn breakage detector S capable of detecting the presence or absence of yarns leading from front rollers to each snail wire 18 in the spinning frame capable of threading the yarns from the front rollers having a front bottom roller 15 provided with a pneumatic suction port 19 thereunder through the snail wire 18 and a ring onto each bobbin. Furthermore, the yarn twister is provided with the yarn breakage detector S. The yarn breakage detector S is equipped with both a long frame having openings opposite to the running positions of the yarns from the respective spindles and a base plate 4, attached to the frame and having both a region for detecting the presence or absence of the running of the yarns from the respective spindles and optically detecting sensors 5 installed in the base plate 4 at an interval.
