CATALYST USING MODIFIED ZEOLITE MORDENITE CONTAINING CERIUM AS BASE AND USE THEREOF IN ISOMERIZATION OF 8C AROMATIC FRACTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst active and selective for the isomerization reaction of a 8C aromatic fraction by specifying the quantity of each carried metal and mordenite in the catalyst prepared respectively by incorporating a VIII group metal in a cerium-carrying mordenite catalyst. ;SOLUTION: In the catalyst containing 2-98wt.% mordenite carrying 7-40wt.% cerium, at least one of the VIII group metal is incorporated by 0.01-3wt.% per total weight of the catalyst. The catalyst is obtained by dry-impregnating the mordenite with an organic solution such as alcohol or aq. solution of at least one of a cerium compound. The mordenite is a large pore type 4.5-100 of atomic ratio of total Si/Al and the mordenite content is preferably 3-90wt.% per total weight of the catalyst.
