PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling performance of a cylinder by disposing a rib for dividing the inside of a water jacket of a cylinder head into the upper and lower sides substantially in the center of each cylinder, and forming a flow port for making cooling water flow from the lower side to the upper side in the water jacket on a rib. ;SOLUTION: Cooling water which is forced to flow into a lower water jacket of a cylinder block by a water pump is divided into a flow directed to a cylinder head 4 and a flow passing through the lower water jacket of the cylinder block and then directed to the cylinder head. The cooling water which goes out of the lower water jacket flows into a lower water jacket of the water jacket 10. Subsequently, the whole flow of the cooling water flows into an upper water jacket through flow ports 31a, 31b, 32a, 33a with small areas formed on the ribs 31-33.
