PURPOSE:To easily and accurately detect a viroid belonging to potato blight viroid group by using a specific synthetic oligonucleotide as a probe. CONSTITUTION:A viroid belonging to the group of potato viroid (PSTV), citrus exocotis viroid(CEV), chrysanthemum-stunt viroid, tomato plantamatio viroid(TPMV) and tomato apex stunt viroid(TAS) among viroids infecting to plants to cause various symptoms such as dwarf, growth-inhibition and teratosis is detected by using a synthetic oligonucleotide having complimentarity to the common sequence of the RNA of the viroid, preferably a 15-25-mer synthetic oligonucleotide having the base sequence of formula.
