PURPOSE:To ensure the mechanical setting of onion seedlings from a relevant raising seedling tray by improving the cakability and stickability of the root balls of onion seedlings to prevent the root balls from crumbling. CONSTITUTION:In this method designed to pack culture soil in pots of a raising seedling tray to be used for mechanical setting and to raise onion seedlings for each pot, the culture soil to be used is prepared by the following process: soil disinfected by heat treatment is incorporated with peat moss, montmorillonite-based material as caking agent for preventing onion seedling root balls from crumbling and alginic acid as sticking agent followed by adding an aqueous solution of fertilizer nutrients to the mixture and then conducting granulation, and the resultant granulates are heat-treated again to accomplish material disinfection/weed prevention and moisture content regulation.
